American Flag

by Rosalie Hernandez

I honor of our men and women who have served our country to guarantee and insure our freedom the Eagle Scouts from all eight towns of New Grace organized a patriotic salute to our veterans at the American Legion Hall #764 in Rosemeade.  Eagle Scouts Lawrence Hardy from Lindley and Robert Marcel from Saint Georgina co-chaired the event.  ROTC students from New Grace High School served as Honor Guard and the Acadia High School band provided the music saluting all branches of the armed forces.  Hollis Peterson, a junior at Herrick Bay Academy performed our national anthem.  Congratulations to Hollis for his early admission to the Julliard School of Music in New York City.  The highlight of the program was the address by Eagle Scout Frank Beaufort of Troop #917 in Beaudeclaire on the importance of commitment, service and sacrifice.  All veterans and a guest were treated to a buffet dinner.  All attendees were welcome to dine.  Tickets for dinner were $7 for adults and $5 for children.  All proceeds were donated to the Wounded Warriors Program.
