TINY HOMES COMING TO ROSEMEADE

 By Bobby Joe Beckman After months of debates, petitions and protesters in front of city hall, the Town of Rosemeade has voted to permit a ‘tiny home’ community on the east side of town. Already purchased by developers Galaxy Developers, the abandoned mobile home park Miners Glen will be torn down and the new Glenworthy Estates will be erected. “The basic services are already there: water and sewer, electrical, even cable TV. CONSORTIUM TO REBUILD SUMMERLY

by Shannon Longneck The Rosemeade neighborhood of Summerly, which was devastated by the October floods and condemned will be rebuilt. Eighty-two of the eight-four homes in the neighborhood are on the list for demolition. On Friday a group of New Grace home builders announced they have formed a consortium to purchase the homes, level the land and build a new subdivision. The present homeowners are entitled to funds from the state and federal government as a buyout to their flood damaged homes. However, when they will get the funding is not definite. FLOOD DAMAGED HOMES CONDEMNED

  by Shannon Longneck   October, 2015 brought rain to South Carolina, leaving the state overwhelmed by flooding, the likes of which had not been seen in over a thousand years.  New Grace was hit hard and many areas throughout the county remain devastated. At a meeting of Mayors and county representatives an announcement was made that three New Grace neighborhoods have officially been condemned.     by BJ BECKHAM The trial of Opal May  began on December 24th  in the New Grace County Courthouse.  Craig LaPorte of the Attorney General’s Office presented his opening statement. Crystal Karats on Main Street in Rosemeade was robbed on the afternoon of July 8, 2015.  The owner reported being in the store alone when a woman entered pushing a stroller.
