FINDING INSPIRATION AS A MYSTERY WRITER

  Often when I tell someone that I am a writer their first question is always “What do you write?” The answer to that is easy, I write mysteries. Most of them are legal mysteries where an attorney is the main character, but I do enjoy writing mysteries in other genres. Usually the next question is where do I get my inspiration. Inspiration can come from any source. Some people find their inspiration in a country song, either the lyrics or the title. FORESHADOWING – A FICTION WRITER’S HINT OF THINGS TO COME

Foreshadowing is a writer’s way of giving the reader hints of events to come, an incentive to keep turning the page and for me one of my favorite part of the story to write. For mystery writers foreshadowing is essential as it is how we give our audience clues which they will need to solve the puzzle presented in the story.
