ARREST IN LINDLEY LIBRARY FIRE

 by B J BECKHAM Robert and Richard Hampton were arrested for the September 30th arson that took the Lindley Branch of the New Grace County Public Library. The accused are heirs to the estate of  Homer Hampton who willed the structure to the county for public use. Two vehicles were seen leaving the scene of the fire and partial plates were provided to the investigators. A search of DMV records showed cars matching the descriptions belonged to the brothers. BOOKS BURN IN LINDLEY

LINDLEY, SC by B J Beckman  At 3:20 Monday morning firepersons from both Lindley firehouses responded to an alarm at 640 E Main, the site of the Homer Hampton Memorial Library in Lindley. Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation at New Grace County Hospital and released. Marion Joyce of Rosemeade said she first suspected something was wrong when she was driving down Main Street, “I couldn’t see any flames, but the sky seemed to be glowing. The twenty-two count indictment, which included three charges of abduction and assault, reflected the bizarre crimes that took place across New Grace County on December 10th  which left the victims tied naked with Christmas lights to a sleigh in a homeowner’s Christmas  display. CONSORTIUM TO REBUILD SUMMERLY

by Shannon Longneck The Rosemeade neighborhood of Summerly, which was devastated by the October floods and condemned will be rebuilt. Eighty-two of the eight-four homes in the neighborhood are on the list for demolition. On Friday a group of New Grace home builders announced they have formed a consortium to purchase the homes, level the land and build a new subdivision. The present homeowners are entitled to funds from the state and federal government as a buyout to their flood damaged homes. However, when they will get the funding is not definite. DEPUTY’S BODY FOUND AFTER EIGHT YEARS

        by B J BECKHAM The body of New Grace County deputy sheriff Horace Nevada has been found after eight years.   Deputy Nevada went missing the evening of February 12, 2008. On that night  he pulled a car over for speeding and called the plate number, driver’s license and registration back to the station.  He was informed the car came back stolen and the driver’s license belonged to a deceased individual.
